The Setup page (click the "Setup" Panel Button) allows you to choose measurement units and models, as well as to enter age or calculate age from birthdate, and weight, or estimate weight from a heartgirth measurement. None of these options change your actual data, so feel free to change setup options as often as you like - you can easily change back to your starting point. |

A handy feature for data entry is the Heartgirth Converter which can estimate weight from a measurement of heartgirth (the measured distance around the body just behind the front legs). |

| When you make a change in the Setup page, other parts of the Applet, such as the Data Entry panel, reflect the change. |

Similarly the Age from BirthDate feature will automatically calculate age from the date a measurement was taken and the birthdate of an animal. |

You can select whatever format you prefer for entering dates, and whatever units you prefer for height and weight, and later change units without altering your data.. For example, I usually enter weights by measuring heartgirth in centimeters (I keep a small carpenter's tapemeasure in my pocket that is marked in cm), then after data is entered change the weight unit to pounds to view the result.
